73 Million People Tuned Into Eurovision: Europe Shine A Light

The European Broadcasting Union has announced that the celebratory programme Eurovision: Europe Shine A Light recorded an audience average of 73 million.

The data was produced from the 38 markets who broadcast the show. The Shine A Light programme was created to bring Europe (and Australia) together after the cancellation of the 65th Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam due to the coronavirus.

The EBU reports that the highest viewing was recorded in Italy via RAI, reaching 3 million people. The UK & The Netherlands both recorded a viewing of 2.4 million respectively.

20% of the viewers watching were aged 15-24 years old, which was almost double the average amount for the broadcasters’ prime time viewing.

Find out more on the data via the EBU website.
