After multiple reports that France would choose internally, scrapping the Destination Eurovision format that selected Madame Monsieur (“Mercy”) and Bilal Hassani (“Roi”, King), France Télévisions has announced that Tom Leeb will represent the Tricolore for Eurovision 2020. According to the official Eurovision site, the actor, singer, and comedian will reveal the representative song soon.
Tom Leeb’s singer-songwriter sound is inspired by acts such as John Mayer, Bon Iver, and more. The song he will sing will be handpicked from songs requested by France 2 to be written specifically for Eurovision.
Junior Eurovision entry “Bim bam toi” (sung by Carla) received fifth place in the competition with the third-most votes from the public. After the contest concluded, Alexandra Redde-Amiel, who was already serving as France’s Variety and Entertainment director and who had hinted upon the Carla’s song in October, stepped in as the new Eurovision head of delegation. What musical direction do you think France will take this year in Eurovision?
