Norway: Melodi Grand Prix Participants Revealed

KEiiNO win the 59th edition of Melodi Grand Prix, Norway.

The first nine acts competing in the 2020 edition of Melodi Grand Prix, which will be used to determine Norway’s participant in Eurovision 2020, have been revealed.

In a press conference hosted by Norwegian national broadcaster NRK, the country named the participants who will be competing in the 60th version of Melodi Grand Prix. A total of twenty-five acts will participate in the competition. Today, the five acts who are pre-qualified to the final were revealed, plus the four artists competing in the Southern Norway Semi-Final, they are;

  • Lisa Børud with ”Talking About Us” (Semi-Final)
  • Kim Rysstad with ”Rainbow” (Semi-Final)
  • Raylee with ”Wild” (Semi-Final)
  • Geirmund with ”Come Alive” (Semi-Final)
  • Tone Damil with ”Hurts Sometimes” (Pre-Qualified)
  • Sondrey with ”Take My Time” (Pre-Qualified)
  • Akuvi with ”Som Du Er” (Pre-Qualified)
  • Ulrikke with ”Attention” (Pre-Qualified)
  • Didrik & Emil Solli-Tangen with ”Out Of Air” (Pre-Qualified)

The Shows

Melodi Grand Prix will begin on the 11th of January, continuing from every saturday until the 15th of February. All semi-finals will be broadcast from the H3 Arena in Fornebu. The schedule for the shows is as follows;

  • Show 1 (Southern Norway) – 4 Songs – 11th January
  • Show 2 (Eastern Norway) – 4 Songs – 18th January
  • Show 3 (Central Norway) – 4 Songs – 25th January
  • Show 4 (Western Norway) – 4 Songs – 1st February
  • Show 5 (Northern Norway) – 4 Songs – 8th February
  • Grand Final (Trondheim) – 10 Songs (5 pre-qualified acts + one qualifier from each individual show compete) – 15th February

Norway in Eurovision 2019

In the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest, held in Tel Aviv, Israel, Norway was represented by pop group KEiiNO, with the song ‘Spirit In The Sky’. The entry went on to come in 6th place overall, winning the televote. The 2019 final of Melodi Grand Prix took place on the 2nd of March.
