Recently, it was announced that indeed Bulgaria would be participating in the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest. Find Out More Here.

In this article, we review everything that’s happening with Bulgaria and the Eurovision Song Contest 2020, held in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

First things first, let’s clarify why we’re covering Bulgaria. Well, Bulgaria withdrew from last year’s contest in Tel Aviv, Israel due to financial difficulties. The nation also withdrew from the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2017 and has not returned since. Earlier this year, we covered the reported bankruptcy of the Bulgarian Television Service. As reported by the official Twitter page of Eurovision Bulgaria, the nation was due to announce its participation status in September. However, this news has not been reported. The Twitter account, which was created in 2013, is verified and ran by the national broadcaster. However, the account was taken down completely from Twitter earlier today.

So, what is happening with Bulgaria? Well, to be quite frankly honest – we do not know. The deletion of the official Twitter page and lack of communication suggests that their absence is inevitable. But, there could be explanations for these incidents, so let’s not lower our spirits just yet.

We are in the process of contacting both BNT and the Eurovision Song Contest regarding Bulgaria’s participation in the contest. If you have any information, please report it to us and we could use it in a future article.
