KAN Israel wins ‘Booster Award’ for Eurovision Accessibility Project

KAN, Israel National Broadcasting, have been awarded the Booster award by the Israeli Marketing Association.

As noted in the programme, this year’s Eurovision Song Contest was the most accessible contest yet, featuring sign language, audio description, simplified language and more to bring Eurovision to a broader audience and to make it accessible for everyone.

The contest was narrated in Israeli Sign Language, but of course there are over 41 countries broadcasting the event. An interpreter spoke of the translation: ‘I really love this language and I really love the community, so it’s important for me to translate authentically. When someone sings with emotion, you can’t just translate it in a monotone way. This is why, from the side, it may look like I’m really over-excited!’
