Amsterdam has withdrawn from the bidding process of hosting the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest.
The Mayor of Amsterdam, Femke Halsema confirmed that Amsterdam will no longer be in the running to host the contest in a letter to the city council. One of the reasons Amsterdam withdrew was because of the lack of possible venues.
The Mayor wishes the other cities the best of luck. Amsterdam has previously hosted the contest, in 1970 at the RAI. The venues offered from Amsterdam were the Ziggo Dome, Johan Cruyff Arena & RAI Amsterdam. The Eurovision in Concert & Junior Eurovision 2012 arena, AFAS Live, was turned down due to size issues.
Five cities remain in the running to host the contest; Rotterdam, Maastricht, Arnhem, Den Bosch and Utrecht.
