After the withdrawals of Leeuwarden and The Hague the municipality of Breda confirmed their withdrawal of the bid to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2020.
‘Breda is a city with courage and ambitions,’ municipal councillor of events Daan Quaars told local broadcaster Omroep Brabant, ‘that is why we signed us up with lots of confidence to host the songcontest. Out of a further explanation of the rules to host this special event it looks like there should be a considerable amount of money coming from the municipality. This is not realistic.’
In total there are only six cities left to host the contest: Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Maastricht, Arnhem and Den Bosch. Breda made clear that they will support the final host city to make the most out of the contest and the promotion for The Netherlands.
