Members of the EBU voted on the change of the EBU criteria, in which resulted in no change to the current system.
Today, the European Broadcasting Union conducted a vote, if successful, the union would have to change it’s rules on the membership criteria, meaning that Kosovo most likely would participate in the contest next year.
The voting results were as follows: 400 Pro, 673 Against & 113 Abstained. The voting result comes from Cyprus, Greece, Serbia and Spain. These resuls mean that Kosovo’s chance in participating in next year’s contest are very unlikely, the only chance being if the EBU invited the state to compete, as previously occuring at the 2011 Eurovision Young Dancer’s contest.
Kovovo is a disputed territory, which is not yet a member of the United Nations and unable to become a member of the International Telecommunication Union. These rules mean that Kosovo is unable to join the contest until it becomes a member of the UN.
