Finland’s Public Broadcaster, YLE has announced they will not be debuting at Junior Eurovision 2019.
The country has strong views on the contest and it’s format. Speaking to Eurofestivales, Ville Vilen, YLE’s Creative Director, stated:
YLE will not participate in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest because we have a strong principle of not putting children in an adult contest,
we do not do, for example, cooking programs with children.Statement from YLE, Finnish Broadcaster
The 2019 Junior Eurovision Song Contest will take place on Sunday the 24th of November in Gliwice, Poland at Arena Gliwice. So far, twelve countries have confirmed their interest in participating, these are: Albania, Australia, Azerbaijan, France, Georgia, Ireland, The Netherlands, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Russia and Wales.
