Cyprus will not be returning to Junior Eurovision 2019

CyBC has announced they will not be participating in this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

CyBC’s* Head of Delegation, Evi Papamichae confirmed the news to Eurofestivals and stated the reason was ‘a management decision’. * CyBC is the Cypriot National Broadcaster

Cyprus withdrew from the contest in 2018, having placed last with 45 points the previous year, represented by Nicole Nicolaou singing ‘I Wanna Be A Star’. Cyprus’ track record at the contest is rather short and disappointing, as the country has only participated eight times, and their best result is eighth place in 2008.
