Slovakian television service RTVS are reportedly planning a possible debut for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Gilwice. According to Eurofestivales, the RTVS spokesperson stated that;
RTVS currently supervises and evaluates in detail the possibilities of cooperation in the Junior Eurovision Festival
Slovakia’s debut in the contest would come as a shock to some eurofans as the broadcaster has already declined to take part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 and the country has shown little interest in the junior version since it’s inception in 2003. Some people however argue that Slovakia’s junior participation will help RTVS evaluate the interest in the contest in a more cost-effective way and fill a broadcasting void for the broadcaster.
Slovakia did originally plan to debut in the Junior Eurovision back in 2003 but withdrew later on in the year, RTVS haven’t announced any plans since.
